Cambashi, a respected authority in tracking and analyzing the engineering and manufacturing software market for almost four decades, has just released an important white paper titled “Accelerating innovation with simulation”. The paper explains why simulation is needed to support innovation by analyzing many different design options – often involving different CAE solvers – and why this requires strategic cloud enablement and deeper community engagement.

‘Simulate to Innovate’ white paper

Simulation’s highest calling is to offer fresh, earlier, more frequent, and accelerated solutions to product development. Hence, more simulation driven decisions can enable further strategic advantage for design-led businesses – to innovate and differentiate.

Finding a solution to optimize simulation’s impact is inherently complex, affected by trade-offs such as capacity vs capability vs flexibility vs cost vs impact. And there is a need to resolve gaps (experience, knowledge, and capability) inside and outside of the business.

Simulation – in the cloud and using HPC – is now part of advanced CAE toolchains. The question has become not only “if cloud” – but increasingly “how much”, “who from” and ”why”.

Specialist Cloud Enablement solutions provide an essential middle layer to fill the gap between the design/CAE engineers who perform the simulations and the cloud/HPC providers that provide the compute power and devops to manage the process. To make this work effectively requires extended CAE community development and participation.

The research behind this white paper was funded by Simr (formerly UberCloud) although the IP and opinions expressed are those of Cambashi.
